Veterinary software prices have several parts: the subscription, any per-vet or per-user fees, add-ons for messaging and payments, and one-off costs for setup and data conversion. Compare the same list of items across every offer.
Short answer
- Most cloud veterinary software is sold as a monthly subscription. Many vendors price it per vet or per doctor.
- Several well-known vendors publish only a starting price, or none. Full prices are given in a quote after a demo.
- Messaging, payments, AI tools and data conversion are often priced apart from the base plan. Ask for each one in writing.
- 4softvet is priced in euro, with 6 months free and no card. It does not send reminders, take online bookings or process payments, so those costs do not apply to it.

What vendors publish, checked on 2026-10-26
- Shepherd states a start at $299 a month for one doctor with its payment tool, or $349 without it, priced per doctor. Quotes follow a demo.
- ezyVet states it can be started for as little as $260.50 a month. Further pricing is available on request.
- Provet Cloud states a starting price of $99 per vet per month and asks you to book a call for exact pricing.
- Digitail, Instinct and Covetrus Pulse do not publish prices on the pages we checked.
- Treat these as starting points. The vendors do not say what the starting price includes.
What 4softvet costs and what it leaves out
4softvet is back-office software for one practice. It is priced in euro, with 6 months free and no card. Check the current plans on the pricing page before you decide.
Because it does less, you pay for less. It has no online booking for owners, no automatic reminders, no invoicing or payment processing, and no file storage. If you need those, add the cost of another tool.
How to compare two quotes
- List the tasks you must do on day one: agenda, animal records, prescriptions, recall, owner messages, invoices.
- Ask each vendor to price exactly that list for your number of vets, in writing.
- Add one-off costs to the first year, not only the monthly fee.
- Ask what happens to your records if you stop paying.
