The electronic animal record: what it contains and why it matters
The electronic animal record keeps in one place the history the vet needs at every visit. Without it, the information sits in registers, in the owner's phone and in the team's memory. With it, the history opens in one click from the schedule.
What the record contains (short answer)
- The animal's identification: name, species, breed, date of birth, sex, microchip number, allergies and notes.
- The owner's details: name, phone and e-mail, linked to the animal.
- Consultations, in free text, with diagnosis, treatment and the date of the next check-up.
- The documents register (title, type, date, reference) and the prescriptions issued as documents.
Why it matters
- Continuity of care: any vet in the practice sees what happened at previous visits.
- Less time lost searching registers and files.
- Prescriptions and documents stay linked to the right animal.
What it does not replace
- Official animal registers: the platform does not connect to them.
- Storing lab results and images: the register keeps only a reference.
Common mistakes
- The owner's details are re-entered for every animal.
- Consultations are written in notebooks, not in the record.
- The documents register is mistaken for storage space.
How 4softvet helps
- The animal record linked to the owner, with a reference number and search by name, owner or microchip.
- Consultations and prescriptions printed from the record, in a single flow with the schedule.
